   남자들의 평균 기대수명은 47세 였다.

* The average life expectancy for men was 47 years 

  차량의 연료는 잡화점 에서만 팔았다.

* Fuel for this car was sold in drug stores only.

 

  14 %의 가정만이 목욕탕이 있었다.

 

* Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

 

  8 %의 가정만이 전화가 있었다.

 

* Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

 

  자동차의 수는 단지 8,000 대이고 포장된 도로는 144마일 뿐이다.

  미국기에는 45개의 별이 있었다.

  라스베가스,네바다의 인구는 단지 30명이었다.

  크로스 퍼즐, 캔맥주, 아이스티등은 창안되어지지 않았다.

  어른 10명중 2명은 읽거나 쓰지를 못하였고, 전 미국인의 6 %만이

 

  고등학교를 졸업하였다.

 

* Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write and only 6 percent

 

  of all Americans had graduated from high school.







  마리화나,헤로인,몰핀등은 로컬 잡화점에서 구입이 가능하였다.

 

* Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter

 

  at the local corner drugstores.

 

  당시의 약사는 "헤로인은 마음을 맑게해주고,마음을 쾌활하게 해주고, 위와

 

 장을 정상상태로 해주는 완전한 건강의 수호자라고" 말 하였다. (놀랄일? 휴!)

 

* Back then pharmacists said, 'Heroin clears the complexion, gives

 

  buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels,and is,

 

  in fact,  a perfect guardian of health'  ( Shocking? DUH! )

 

  가정의 18%는 적어도 한사람의 정규 고용인이나  하인의 도움을 받았다.

 

* Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant

 

  or domestic help.

 

  전미국에서 약 230건의 살인사건이 보고 되었다.

 

* There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A.
